Hibob is an HRIS (a human resources information system) for medium to large companies. Their platform, bob, automates HR tasks, encourages employee engagement and fosters a positive working culture. They offered the opportunity to take their UX copy and take it to the next level.
This was a large-scale project covering different areas of the platform. There were UX writers across the project but I, along with 2 other volunteers, optimised one of the company's longest and most complex setup flows—the setup wizard for employee time off.
This setup wizard allowed HR professionals within a company to add and tailor new time-off policies. These could be holidays, sick leave, international and specific policies, etc.
High focus on copy adjustments
There were technical limitations. As much fun as it would have been to explore the content architecture and suggest a redesign of content within the setup wizard, Hibob's priority at the time was to optimise the existing design's copy, not restructure content.
Localisation
The copy needed to be localised from UK to US English.
Make copy clearer and concise
One of Hibob's strengths is its personalisation capabilities for countries across the globe. This does, however, make for a very complex system, particularly in the Time Off management flow which involved calculations, settings dependent on previously selected settings, regional policies and more. I needed to determine the most concise copy to make the journey easier.
Brand voice
Hibob's voice is plainspoken, kind, inclusive and accessible. However, there were areas of the voice that didn't reflect this. I had to explore ways to convey the correct voice and tone throughout the copy.
